'Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.'
Matthew 5:19

The Habib Girgis School of Coptic Studies is dedicated to raising a new generation of spiritually grounded, knowledgeable, and responsible deacons and deaconesses who are equipped to serve in the church, fully appreciate the depth of our Coptic Orthodox heritage, and teach future generations about the beauty of our faith. Working alongside our Sunday School program, the Habib Girgis School focuses on the hymns, traditions, and rich history of our Coptic Church, while Sunday School provides a foundation in biblical and spiritual teachings.

The school offers classes for children and youth, covering five main courses:

  • Hymns

  • Coptic Language

  • Memorization of Prayers, Psalms, and Readings

  • Coptic Orthodox Church Rites

  • Coptic Orthodox History

Students are also assigned age-appropriate liturgical service responsibilities on a weekly schedule to deepen their participation in church life. The Habib Girgis School oversees deacon ordinations and maintains guidelines to ensure all deacons and deaconesses fulfill their roles with reverence and dedication.
